"Comfort Keepers  responded to a request from retired Perth teacher, Shirley Keenah, after a  long overdue knee operation in St John of God Hospital, Subiaco.

With family all located interstate, Shirley realised that the extensive post op rehabilitation and recovery phase, would require a few weeks of substantial extra care (in addition to her allocated government care package) to ensure that she could attend all of her physio appointments, keep her garden going, have meals ready to go and help with laundry and day to day living.

Shirley asked the Comfort Keepers for extra help during her recovery and booked a free in-home assessment and consultation - to ensure that she wasn't doubling up on assistance provided by the government.  She also wanted someone to cook a nightly meal, assist with light house-keeping, showering support in the mornings and most dear to her heart: someone to walk her beloved cocker spanielL Monty at least once a day, around the Swan River.

To help Shirley, Comfort Keepers set up a free in-home meeting and consultation, developed a six week post op care package (taiiored to meet her needs_ and started the next day, without any waiting times.This included dog walking, meal preparation and transport to the physio!

Comfort Keepers not only met all of Shirley's key need areas, but also arranged for a brand new seasonal veggie garden, ready to go for when she recovered from one of its valued partners!

"It was like having another member of the family on call to help me at the drop of a hat," said Shirley
